About the Exchange Program
In recent years, UFSCar, on behalf of and with the consent of RIDESA, has been consolidating partnerships with breeding programs in several countries, primarily aimed at importing new accessions and incorporating new genes that further increase the productive capacity of RB varieties, as well as their resistance to pests and adverse weather conditions. Currently, partnerships have been established with the United States (US Sugar), Australia (SRA), Colombia (Cenicaña), Ecuador (CINCAE), Argentina (Chacra Experimental and EEAOC), Réunion Island (eRcane), South Africa (SASRI), the Philippines (Philsurin), and China (Guangxi). Essentially, all imported and exported varieties are authorized for use only in hybridization processes and varietal competition experiments.
